How to Use Speechify on Mac (Listen & Dictate Anywhere)

With the new Speechify Mac app, you don’t need to upload files or select specific pages anymore. You can use Speechify directly across your Mac to listen to any text or dictate anywhere you type, including PDFs, Word documents, emails, messages, and more.

Listen to Any Text on Your Mac:

You can instantly listen to anything on your screen:

  • Open any app on your Mac (PDF, browser, email, Word, etc.).

  • Highlight or select the text you want to listen to.

  • Press Option + A (⌥ + A) on your keyboard.

  • Speechify will immediately start reading the selected text aloud, and the miniplayer will show up.

That’s it, no uploading or copying needed!

Dictate Text Anywhere (Voice Typing)

You can also use Speechify to type using your voice in any app:

  • Open any text field (email, document, chat, notes, etc.).

  • Press and hold Fn (Function) on your Mac keyboard.

  • Start speaking naturally.

  • Speechify will convert your speech into clean, written text in real time.

This works across all apps on your Mac, so you can write faster without typing.
