What is the Dictionary feature and how do I use it?

The Dictionary lets you add custom words or phrases to improve dictation accuracy. This is especially useful for names, technical terms, brand names, or industry jargon that Speechify might not recognise correctly.

Note: Dictionary only works with cloud dictation.

Add a word

  1. Open the Speechify app.

  2. Click Dictation in the left sidebar.

  3. Click Dictionary.

  4. Type the word or phrase you want to add into the input box, and click Add.

Add a replacement for a word

Replacements let you tell Speechify to substitute one thing for another when transcribing. This is useful for shortforms, spelling preferences, names or brands. To add a replacement:

  1. Type the word or phrase you want to add into the input box.

  2. Tick the Replacement checkbox

  3. Enter the replacement text in the replacement field.

  4. Click Add. Speechify will now substitute the replacement text whenever you dictate the original word.

Edit or delete a word

Hover on any entry in your Dictionary to see the Edit icon and a Delete icon. Click either to update or remove that word.
