How to Use Auto-Copy to Clipboard for Dictation on Mac

Auto-copy to clipboard the dictated text

Written by Mike B

Your dictated text is inserted directly into whatever text field your cursor is in when you finish dictating — an email draft, a Word document, a chat message, or any other input field.

If no text field is focused, or your text could not be automatically inserted for another reason, you can use Auto-copy to clipboard, the Paste Last Transcript shortcut, or the Copy Text button shown near the Dictation Pill.

You can also have Speechify automatically copy your dictation to the clipboard so you can paste it anywhere:

  1. Open the Speechify app.

  2. Click Dictation in the left sidebar.

  3. Toggle on Auto-copy to clipboard feature.

  4. After each dictation session, your transcribed text will be on your clipboard — paste it anywhere with ⌘V.

With Auto-copy to clipboard turned off, you can still use the Paste Last Transcript shortcut (⌘⌥V) or the Copy Text button shown near the Dictation Pill.
