How to Customize the Menu Bar Icon on Mac

You can customize the Speechify menu bar shortcut to use a key combination that works best for you.

Customize a Shortcut

1. Click the Mac app icon from the Toolbar.

2. Click Shortcuts in the left sidebar.

3. Select the current shortcut you want to change.

4. Press the new key combination you’d like to use. Your changes are saved automatically.

Reset Shortcuts to Default

If you’d like to restore the original shortcut settings:

  1. Open the Shortcuts page.

  2. Click Reset to Default at the bottom of the page.

Troubleshooting

If your custom shortcut is not working:

  • Restart the Speechify app and try again.

  • Make sure the shortcut is not already reserved by macOS or another app.

Note: Some system-reserved keyboard shortcuts cannot be reassigned and will not be accepted.
