Multi-Scan

Multi-Scan lets you take photos of multiple pages and upload them as one cohesive listening document. Perfect for listening to a book or a long printed document.

  1. Using good lighting, open the app and tap +

  2. From the menu, select Scan Text

  3. Select Multi-Scan mode

  4. Point your phone camera at the page of text you want to scan. Be sure to include all the text on the page in the frame.

  5. Tap the circular button at the bottom to take a photo

  6. Repeat for the following pages

  7. When you’re finished, tap the arrow in the bottom right of the screen

  8. From here you can crop, delete, or rearrange your scans

    1. To crop photos, tap the pencil icon on the scan thumbnail. We highly recommend cropping each photo as close to the text as possible to help the text render correctly in the listening document

    2. To rearrange photos, hold your finger down on the scan thumbnail you want to move and drag it to the correct position

    3. To delete a photo, press the X icon on the scan thumbnail

  9. Select Add file to save the scans as one cohesive listening document in your library

Quick scan

Quick scan lets you listen to one page of text instantly. Great for a single page document you want to read or a summary on the back of a book.

  1. Using good lighting, open the app and tap +

  2. From the menu, select Scan Text

  3. Select Quick Scan mode

  4. Tap the play button at the bottom to scan the page and start listening

  5. Tap the download button in the bottom right to save it to your library

  6. Tap the X in the top right corner to exit

Listen to any text in an existing photo from your camera roll

Perfect for listening to text in a screenshot or a photo of any printed text you took with your phone camera

  1. In the app, tap + and select Scan Text

  2. Tap the photo library icon in the bottom left corner

  3. Allow Speechify to access your camera roll if you haven’t already.

    If you already dismissed this permission screen, you can allow permissions from your phone settings. Go to Settings > Speechify > Photos and tap All Photos to allow Speechify access to your photos, then go back to the Speechify app

  4. Select the photos you want to listen to from your camera roll

  5. Tap Select in the top right corner

  6. Now you can take photos of other pages you want to add to the listening document, or tap the blue arrow in the bottom right corner to go to the edit screen when you’re finished

  7. From here you can crop, delete, or rearrange your scans:
