On your listening screen, tap on the 'kabab' (...) icon and select Auto skip content. Select/enable which content you want to skip.
The Enhanced Skipping feature will also help with multi-columned documents
Also, you can use the thumbnails to go to a specific page and start reading there (on the listening screen, click on the chapter title, and it will jump to the page)
